I think of myself primarily as a builder of stuff--hybrid artifacts that typically fall into the “uncategorized” category—but also as an observer of stuff. I’m always looking for (to borrow a phrase from Lawrence Ferlinghetti) the secret meanings of things. I want to find ways to express through material and visual means ideas that don’t fit easily into words. My approach is eclectic, non-linear, sometimes intuitive to the point of unconscious, occasionally obsessive/compulsive. I work in a variety of media and often oscillate between stylistic polar extremes. My happy place is that sweet spot between the conceptual and the surreal or between the ludicrous and the sublime.
